What Apps are the Best for Discipleship?

We use our phones for almost everything. They wake us up, remind us what to do, and keep us connected with people all over the world, but it can also be an incredible tool to help us grow closer to Jesus.

Discipleship is not limited to a classroom or a church service. It is a daily walk with Jesus that shapes every part of life, including how we use technology. When we approach our digital habits with purpose, our phones can become powerful tools for prayer, learning, and community.

Here are some of our favorite apps that can help you grow as a disciple of Jesus.

A Bible App - Obviously

Here are three apps that are a great starting point for anyone who wants to read and study Scripture.

YouVersion

YouVersion is perfect for daily reading and community engagement. It offers hundreds of translations, guided reading plans, and the ability to share verses and reflections with friends. You probably already have this one on your phone!

Logos

Logos is designed for those who want to dig deep. It connects the Bible with commentaries, word studies, and historical insights, making it a great tool for deeper study. Even the free version provides access to excellent resources. You have to invest in a set of good commentaries to get the most bang for your buck with Logos.

Blue Letter Bible

Blue Letter Bible sits somewhere in the middle. It helps you explore the original Hebrew and Greek words behind Scripture and offers cross-references and study tools that make personal Bible study richer and more meaningful.

Beyond Bible Apps

Discipleship is more than just reading the Bible. Following Jesus changes everything—it shapes how you live, pray, and share your faith. These apps can help you do just that.

Lectio 365

Lectio 365 helps you slow down and listen. Each day includes a short devotional that guides you through Scripture, reflection, and prayer. It creates space to be still and to hear from God, especially in the middle of a busy day. 

BibleProject

If you are a visual learner, BibleProject is amazing. It helps you see the story of Scripture as one connected whole through videos, podcasts, and reading plans. It is perfect for understanding how each part of the Bible points to Jesus.

yesHEis

yesHEis is an app that helps believers share their faith in everyday life. It provides short videos, stories, and ideas that make it easier to start real conversations about Jesus. You can share content directly with friends who are curious about faith or learn practical ways to bring Jesus into daily moments. It reminds us that discipleship is not only about growing deeper with God but also about helping others discover Him.

Technology is not the enemy of discipleship. It is a tool. The same phone that can distract you can also remind you of God’s presence. What matters most is the heart behind how you use it.

We love seeing people follow Jesus with creativity and purpose in every area of life. Whether that means starting a Bible plan with a friend, praying along with an app, or sharing what God is teaching you online, it all counts as discipleship when it flows from love for Him.
