Who Am I? Finding Identity in a Broken World

Who Am I? Finding Identity in a Broken World

Heyo, I’m Danny Hinz from the U.S., and if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that our world is hurting. Gen Z especially is struggling with identity, purpose, and belonging. I’ve been there. I’ve felt lost. I’ve asked the big questions.

Who Am I?

I remember one night, sitting on a rock under the stars. It was late one night. I was sitting on a boulder in the dark, staring up at the heavens, pondering the stars. There I cried out to God. That night I said many things to God, expressed many frustrations, but all of it came down to two questions:

“Who am I?”
“What am I supposed to do?”

Maybe you’ve asked the same.

That night, I didn’t get a booming voice from heaven or a flash of lightning. But God answered me, not right away, but through His Word, in a way that hit differently than before.

You Are the Salt of the Earth

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."
- Matthew 5:13

I’d read that verse before. But this time, it called me out.
Was I really salty in my faith? Or was I just kinda… passive?
I had a lot of head knowledge, but it hadn’t reached my heart. I wasn’t really living like Jesus mattered. I had sin in my life, and honestly, I was just coasting.

But that verse didn’t just challenge me, it invited me. It reminded me that God sees me, that I have purpose, and that my identity isn’t something I have to figure out alone.

I needed God to reform me. To make me new.

I needed to actively make God a part of my life, to seek him daily, reaching out to Him in prayer and in the Bible. And as I came closer to God, He began to answer my question, to reveal to me, to talk to me.

I Am Found

I realized: I am a child of God. I’m a servant and a worker for Him. I’m found.

That’s where identity starts, not in followers, not in success, not even in our own plans. It starts with Jesus. And it’s something solid you can build your life on.

What About You?

So, who are you?
Where do you go when you’re asking the big questions?

If you feel lost, I’ve been there too. But the good news is, you can be found.

And once you know who you are, the next question is kinda obvious:
"So... what now? What am I supposed to do?
