Ukraine Relief Updates - July 2022

Ukraine Relief Updates - July 2022

“We were able to deliver medical supplies to the front lines, beyond where anyone else was willing to deliver much needed aid supplies. The reality of war was tangible, we heard it, smelt it, felt it. Those we were able to serve were incredibly grateful, many with tears in their eyes as we were able to help with practical needs, and distribute food and medicine.

We were not just able to leave with a completely empty van, but able to help save lives and share Jesus with those on the front lines.”

We Continue To Serve in Ukraine & Germany

Our Response in Ukraine:

We initially planned on only sending aid to Ukraine, because of your incredible generosity you helped send 12 loads of aid to Ukraine! Now we are focusing on sending relief teams to help already begin with re-construction and relief in Ukraine. Winter is soon around the corner and many people are in need having their homes repaired or replaced. In partnership with YWAM Kiev & Homes of Hope, YWAM Nuremberg is planning to contribute toward building homes in Ukraine.

How can you be part in building homes in Ukraine?

  • Give Financially

  • Come with us to Ukraine: Are you interested in joining the YWAM Nuremberg build teams heading to Ukraine from August 23-September 2?

The Continued Response in Nuremberg:

Our relief response began days after the war began. We made as much space as possible to accommodate Ukrainian refugees arriving in Nuremberg. In the spring we had as many as 50 people living in the YWAM center, we currently still have 22 people calling the YWAM center their home. YWAM has been providing a home for people to live, offering programs, providing clothing to refugees in the city, and lots of translating and making phone

As we shift into the summer and the war continues, people are needing long-term places to live. 7,000+ refugees have arrived in Nuremberg and there are simply not enough empty apartments available. The YWAM team is helping those living in the YWAM center search for apartments, register their kids in school, and start a new life in Germany.

In Nuremberg, we continue to:

  • Serve Ukrainians here in Nuremberg

  • House and accommodate Ukrainians in the YWAM center

What do Ukrainian Refugees in Nuremberg need?

  • The war continues and people need to find long-term places to live. The YWAM dorm is not a great long-term solution for families and children and families need to find apartments to rent. It is very difficult to find apartments in the city and there are not many options of available apartments in Nuremberg for people to rent.

  • Ukrainian refugees need to navigate the overwhelmed government systems in order receive financial aid from the German government.

How Can You Help?

  • Partner Financially - With your financial partnership, we can continue providing a home and accommodating Ukrainians here in the YWAM center. We are €18,000 away from seeing our relief project fully funded through the summer. Your financial partnership helps to accommodate refugees here in Nuremberg and to provide directly to Ukraine.

  • Volunteer: We need local volunteers who can help translate between German and either Russian or Ukrainian.
